ABOUT MIKEY...
BIOGRAPHY
Name: Michael Christopher Charles Graham
DOB: 15th August 1972
Life before BZ: Before joining Boyzone in 1993, Mikey worked as an apprenticeship mechanic. He went for the auditions for Boyzone after hearing the announcement on the radio, and seeing it in the papers, he was reluctant at first, but encouraged by his family, decided to give it a go. Unfortunately he was not announced in the original line-up of the band, and only joined after two other members left.
The BZ years: Boyzone had 6 #1 hit singles between 1993 and 2000, and sold a massive 15 million records worldwide. By 1999 they were at the peak of their fame. but after the final night of the greatest hits tour at the Point in Dublin (Jan 2000) then band announced it was time for a break, of a year at the most. The band all felt it was time, but they were promised they would be back.
2000-2008: During the 'break' Mikey followed his dream and became a singer/songwriter. He released his solo album 'Meet Me Halfway' in 2001. The first single 'You're My Angel' was released 29th May 2000, and charted at number 13. 'If You'd Only' was released in October of the same year, but was ineligible to chart and 'You could be my everything' was released on 2nd April 2001 with the album on 16th April 2001. Both failed to chart- when you listen to the album this is somewhat of a mystery. But at the time Mikey didn't have any support from a record company as they were more interested in promoting Steo and Ronan.
Boyzone's planned comeback after a year never happened, so after having a year off and battling depression, Mikey decided to go back to college to study musical technology and sound engineering, after which he set up a successful recording studio in his own home.
He also took up acting (of which he had an interest before Boyzone) and has starred in several movies, Fifty Dead Men Walking, Hey Mr. DJ, Situations Vacant and Fatal Deviation. He also spent a time in LA and was coached by Brad Pitts acting coach Roy London.
2007/8: Boyzone announced their reunion for Children In Need in 2007 and the Back Again No Matter What tour was scheduled for 2008. Mikey had great presence on the comeback tour, taking lead vocals during the Jackson Medley and also playing piano during Words.
2009 and Beyond: The Boyz stayed together after the Back Again...tour and have scheduled a new studio album in for 2010. They are rumoured to be working with Gregg Alexander of the New Radicals and Jamie Hartman from Ben's Brother. The tentative release date is 8th March 2010 with the single set to be played from 18th January 2010. From January 2010 Mikey will be competing in itv1's Dancing On Ice. Please see the Dancing On Ice page for more details.
